Tropical Hibiscus 'Lipstick' Pink Flower Plant
Native to Asia, tropical hibiscus plants produce flowers constantly, but each blossom only lasts one day. The shrub is fast-growing and can add up to 24 inches per year, eventually reaching heights of up 15 feet when growing under the ideal conditions. In colder climates, they are often planted as container specimens that are either replanted annually or brought indoors during the cold months. Start new plants in spring, whether in the ground or containers.
Lipstick Hibiscus features bold fuchsia star-shaped flowers with pink overtones, red eyes and gold anthers at the ends of the branches from late spring to early fall. It has dark green evergreen foliage. The glossy pointy leaves remain dark green throughout the winter.
Landscape Attributes
Lipstick Hibiscus is a multi-stemmed evergreen tropical plant with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition.
This tropical plant will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and should be cut back in late fall in preparation for winter. It is a good choice for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to your yard, but is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats
Your plant will be shipped with the roots wrapped in damp paper towels and with plastic and ready to plant upon arrival. The plant will be between 12” to 14” in height with well-developed roots. Planting guidelines will also be included.
