Plant Care

Light: Place Tillandsia ionantha in bright, indirect light. Filtered sunlight or artificial light is ideal. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.

Water: Soak the plant in room temperature water for about 20-30 minutes once a week. Ensure that water reaches all parts of the plant, and shake off excess water to prevent water accumulation in the base of the leaves. If you're in a drier climate, you might need to water more frequently.

Air Circulation: Provide good air circulation to allow the plant to dry completely within 4 hours after watering. This helps prevent issues like rot. Air plants like Tillandsia ionantha absorb nutrients from the air, so proper ventilation is essential.

Temperature: Maintain a temperature range of 50-90°F (10-32°C). Protect the plant from extreme cold, as it can be sensitive to frost.

Fertilization: While air plants generally get nutrients from the air, you can supplement their diet by misting them with a diluted, water-soluble orchid or bromeliad fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring to early fall).

Display: Get creative with the display of Tillandsia ionantha. Mount it on decorative driftwood, rocks, or place it in open terrariums. Ensure that the base of the plant is not constantly in contact with a surface to prevent moisture accumulation.
