Salvia 'Roman Red' Sage
The Salvia Roman Red Sage plant is an upright, clump-forming, half-hardy, semi-woody perennial, often grown as an annual, with ovate, toothed, wrinkled, mid- to bright green leaves and, from late summer into autumn, loose spikes tubular, scarlet flowers with maroon calyces.Β Roman Red Salvia has masses of beautiful spikes of red flowers rising above the foliage from late spring to mid fall, which emerge from distinctive dark red flower buds, and which are most effective when planted in groupings. The flowers are excellent for cutting. Its fragrant narrow leaves remain green in color throughout the season.
