Red Wonderful Pomegranate Plant
Wonderful Pomegranate
The Wonderful Pomegranate is a hardy ornamental with a fabulous fall harvest. One would look lovely in your landscape bed, or plant several as a shrub boarder along the house. The flower of the Wonderful Pomegranate is about the brightest red flower known to the gardener! They are most often grown as a shrub, but if you prefer a tree they're simple enough to prune into a desired shape.
Plant Characteristics
Many people grow the Pomegranate not for the fruit, but simply for its ornamental appeal. You'll love how the glossy dark green color of the oval leaves catch the midday sun. The leaves fill out the Pomegranate's dense rounded shape, lending it an appealing silhouette that would enhance almost any location in your yard.
The Wonderful Pomegranate is best placed in the sunniest, warmest part of your yard or orchard for the best fruit, although they will grow and flower in part shade.
Spring and fall are special times for your Pomegranate. In the spring the leaves emerge with an uncommon splash of bronze.
An abundance of dainty flowers follow, their rare blending of oranges and reds reminiscent of a summer sunset. You'll be pleased to find that the flowers are hardier than many spring blooms, prolonging your enjoyment into the summer months and encouraging the hummingbirds who love them.
Fall brings even more appeal, as yellow leaves and a harvest of the 4-inch, round red fruit proclaim a successful conclusion to the season. The deep red color of the Wonderful Pomegranate means that the Pomegranate is ripe. This pomegranate is self-pollinated as well as cross-pollinated by insects.
