Tolerant of seaside conditions and clay, highly useful as a groundcover for coastal bluffs or hot inland areas. Attractive to hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. This drought resistant spreader is perfect for bird habitat gardens, erosion control and naturalizing large areas. It is also a good plant for erosion control in combination with other drought tolerant natives that are adapted to warm and dry conditions.

Growing Purple Sage

• Thrives in well-draining soil, preferring sandy or loamy soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.
• Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, especially once established.
• Prefers full sun, needing at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth.
• Tolerates heat and drought well once established.
• Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushiness, removing any dead or leggy growth.
• Best suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 5 to 9.
