Pinguicula gypsicola is a perennial heterophyllous species, which produces non -carnivorous winter and carnivorous summer leaves. The epithet gypsicola is derived from the Latin gypsum (mineral composed of calcium sulphate dihydrate) and colere (inhabit), as a reference for the substrate preference.
