Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry Tree

Mulberry taste similar to blackberries, and they will stain your hands and lips like black berries as well. They are excellent eaten right out of hand, but they are often used to preserves, jellies, and jams. The eaves of the mulberry are cultivated in many parts of the world as food for silk worms. Everbearing produces small fruit almost year round.

Easy-to-grow, this abundant producer of sweet medium-sized fruit has performed exceptionally well in pots yielding several crops per year even during the first season. If grown in pots, they are continuous producers cycling in and out of flower and fruit when given warm temperatures and adequate light. They can be kept under 2โ€™ with moderate pruning. In the ground, they turn into a large bush. Mulberries are known for their immune system enhancing benefits. They are also thought to improve eyesight. Mulberry plants are disease-and-insect resistant and do well as potted plants.

Growing Conditions for Everbearing Mulberry Tree

It flowers from May to June, and the seeds ripen from August to September. The flowers are monoecious (individual flowers are either male or female, but both sexes can be found in the same plant) The plant is self-fertile. The plant prefers light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and requires well-drained soil. The plant prefers acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It requires moist soil. It can tolerate atmospheric pollution.

Mulberries have brittle roots and so need to be handled with care when planting them out. Any pruning should only be carried out in the winter when the plant is fully dormant becouse mulberries bleed badly when cut.
