Apricot Mallow Sphaeralcea ambigua
This selection of Mallow has spectacular flowers that will range in colors from deep coral to orange that absolutely glow. The almost non-stop flowers appear on 1'-4' stems rising above fuzzy gray-green foliage. Use this plant to add a blast of color to a succulent garden or in a desert border where it contrasts nicely with Apache Plume and beargrass.
Growing Apricot Mallow
- Thrives in well-draining soil, preferring sandy or loamy soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.
- Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during dry spells.
- Prefers full sun to partial shade, needing at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth.
- Tolerates a wide range of temperatures and is drought tolerant once established.
- Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new growth, removing any dead or leggy growth.
- Best suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 4 to 8.
