Agave Desmentiana 'Smooth Agave'

The Smooth Agave plant is a compact, fast-growing Agave with an elegant urn shape and cupped green-blue foliage. Leaves are mostly or entirely toothless along the edges with spines at the ends of the leaves. Produces multiple small offsets, forming a clump that grows 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. Once it reaches maturity, it will bloom with an 8 to 10 foot tall stalk of yellow flowers. At this point, the primary rosette will die, but offsets can be easily propagated. 

Growing Smooth Agave

• Plant Smooth Agave in a location with full sun to partial shade, ensuring it receives ample sunlight for healthy growth.
• Provide well-draining soil, such as sandy or rocky soil, to prevent waterlogging and root rot, as Smooth Agave is susceptible to root rot in overly moist conditions.
• Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between watering sessions, as Smooth Agave is drought-tolerant and prefers dry conditions.
• Prune the plant occasionally to remove dead or damaged leaves and maintain its attractive rosette shape.
• Smooth Agave is hardy in USDA zones 9-11 and thrives in warm, arid climates, making it suitable for xeriscaping and desert gardens. It can also be grown in containers and brought indoors during colder months.

You will receive one well-rooted plant. Your plant will be shipped with the roots wrapped in plastic and ready to plant upon arrival. The plant will be between 8 to 10 inches in height with well-developed roots. These plants have been growing in one gallon containers. Planting guidelines will also be included.
