Microlepia strigosa 'Lace Fern'

The Lace Fern plant is a delicate looking yet sturdy medium-sized fern forms dense clumps 2-3 feet tall that expand slowly by rhizomes. Its leaf blades start a light color and age to medium green and are two feet long by one foot wide with the arching then nodding fronds divided twice (bipinnate). Lace fern does best in light shade or morning sun with regular to occasional irrigation - surprisingly water thrifty for a fern and in our coastal garden only gets infrequent irrigation (once every 4 to 6 weeks) during summer months. This vibrant Lace Fern is a great choice for creating a lush atmosphere in any space.

Growing Lace Fern

  • Lace Fern (Asparagus setaceus) is a delicate and airy fern known for its feathery, lace-like foliage.
  • It thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers well-draining soil, making it perfect for indoor settings and shaded garden areas.
  • Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, ensuring it doesn't dry out completely between waterings.
  • Regular misting helps maintain humidity, which is beneficial for its growth and prevents the fronds from browning.
  • Lace Fern adds an elegant touch to indoor plant collections, hanging baskets, and shaded garden spots, creating a soft, lush green display.
